Product Description As Hollywood insiders know, the first step in selling your story idea for film or television is preparing a treatment, the brief pitch that sells the concept to a busy producer or agent. Now including updates on the latest trends in the industry, writers-producers Kenneth Atchity and Chi-Li Wong tell readers everything they need to know to create an effective and saleable treatment, one that incorporates such key elements as conflict, likeable characters, plot twists, a climax, and visual drama. Using dozens of the latest examples from actual productions, Writing Treatments That Sell distinguishes between scripts designed for feature films, episodic television, and made-for-TV movies, and shows step-by-step how to prepare a selling treatment for each. Also included is essential information on copyrighting and acquiring rights along with a comprehensive glossary of industry terms. This book is essential for anyone hoping to get a foot in the door of the exciting scriptwriting business.

Great Great Great January 31, 2009 B. L. Brown I bought this book with little expectations but I was pleasantly surprised by it. It has all the information you need to write a treatment (although you ought to already be familiar with screenwriting) and has many helpful suggestions. It has a limited number of treatment examples but they are broken down piece by piece so I think it worked out very well. All in all a great book! I recommend it to those who are serious about screenwriting and having a well planned story for their screenplay or teleplay.
not useful September 12, 2008 S. Marsh If you have already written a screenplay or are a serious screenwriter, there is pretty much no useful information in this book. A lot of the book is filler and more oriented to your screenplay/source material/annals of television story development. Needs more examples of treatments, and more importantly, it needs to make good on its title. This book didn't tell me how to "write treatments that sell," it just explained that treatments exist, and sometimes they're bought.
AWESOME BOOK March 26, 2008 GJF (northern, New Jersey) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very well written, easy to follow, guides you in the right direction. Whether what they tell you will really work or not is up to you, but it's an awesome guide. See ya on the red carpet!
useful information, but basic February 22, 2008 M. Carson 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The book was useful, but the service from Amazon was terrible! It took two weeks to deliver and they still delivered it somewhere else. Had to get a replacement. After all the wait, the book was surely not worth the headache.
A remarkable resource for the aspiring writer February 15, 2008 D. Kenney (NY Suburbs) Wow! What a comprehensive and thorough tool for creating effective treatments and how to use them. I have no doubt that the information in this book will help writers sell their work and prevent unnecessary efforts that will not get results.
